PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Truck Engine Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing truck engines which may include reconditioning, rebuilding or overhauling. He/she is also may be responsible for coaching junior technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Evaluate components for contamination and reusability.
· Analyze component fracture and wear failures.
· Conduct failure analysis.
· Recognize visible indicators of problems.
· Wash components, engines, or machines
· Clean, remove, install components and validate performance.
· Disassemble/assemble components and validate performance.
· Test/diagnose and troubleshoot systems.
· Adjust systems and validate performance.
· Use dealer reference, technical and business systems.
· Perform preventive maintenance services.
· Promote safety and environmental responsibility.
· Mentor Apprentice Technician.
· Provide work order information.
· Participate in team selling.
· Represent Dealership in customer contact situations.
· hould have progressed to a point of self confidence in ability.
· Should be proficient in the use of laptops as a diagnostic tool, can continue the development through company or Caterpillar supplied sources.
· Should be able to perform most Caterpillar engine repairs within TRG guidelines without supervision. All engine disassembly & reassembly without supervision. Ability to meet Caterpillar mandated times on most warranty repairs without supervision.
· Be able to perform total truck repairs
· Should be able to perform all engine brand repairs within TRG guidelines without supervision. All engine disassembly & reassembly without supervision.
· Should be able to perform trailer repairs, and have Air Conditioning experience, ASE certification is a plus
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma/certificate or equivalent.
· Minimum 2-5 Years experience
· Some ASE certification is a plus
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English and the local language sufficient to comprehend technical data/service manuals and writes legibly.
· Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, perform repetitive bending tasks and achieve required torque specifications per manufacturer's repair procedures.
· Owns, updates and maintains sufficient hand tools to perform job roles.
· Maintains a valid Commercial Driver's License in compliance with Company regulations.
